Straß im Straßertale

The well-known wine-growing community of Straß im Straßertale lies on the southern slope between the Waldviertel and Weinviertel, not far from the Wachau. It belongs to the district of Krems-Land and consists of the cadastral communities of Straß, Elsarn, Wiedendorf, Obernholz and Diendorf am Walde. The scenic Straßertal valley offers many opportunities for leisure activities close to nature. Hikers and families in particular spend perfect vacation and excursion days here - far away from the hustle and bustle.

Straß im Straßertale: the most beautiful excursion destinations for young and old

In the museum for cooperage and viticulture, old crafts can be experienced up close. A visit to the Elsarn open-air museum is also exciting: here guests can follow in the footsteps of the Germanic tribes - surrounded by authentic buildings and utensils from the period between the 1st and 5th centuries AD. A visit to the Marienschlössl Wiedendorf, on the other hand, is very romantic: over 300 types of roses can be admired here. You can even spend the night in a rose paradise - in a room with a blooming garden view.

Other sights in Straß include

  • the Straß Fire Brigade Museum,
  • the Obernholz fossil showroom and
  • the Falkenberg ruins.
