Wiener Neustadt - das Tor zu den Wiener Alpen

Wiener Neustadt - the second largest city in Lower Austria - closes the gap in the Wiener Alpenbogen - Arc of the Viennese Alps (trail) between Bad Fischau-Brunn and Katzelsdorf. The former imperial city had its greatest significance in the 15th century. The "all-time faithful" was the undisputed favorite residence of both Emperor Frederick III and his son Maximilian I. Today, Wiener Neustadt is the urban center of the Vienna Alps with over 45,000 inhabitants.

Numerous shopping opportunities, cafés, restaurants and markets enliven the spacious pedestrian zones in the old town. With the Marienmarkt, Wiener Neustadt has a new culinary center right on the main square.

Wiener Neustadt also has a remarkable history. Most of the sights are located in the city center, including the water tower - the city's landmark, the Reckturm with parts of the city wall and the cathedral. Also worth seeing is the castle in Wiener Neustadt, which is now the seat of the military academy. The Neukloster Abbey has a treasure and curiosity chamber and a library that is well worth a visit.

Wiener Neustadt also offers a wide range of leisure activities. The sports and adventure pool Aqua Nova on the outskirts of the city attracts visitors with its 100-meter slide, waterfall and white water facility. There is also a newly built outdoor adventure pool with a slide, diving platform and beach volleyball court right next door. The Arena Nova hosts numerous concerts, exhibitions and trade fairs. A cinema and bowling alleys provide the perfect bad weather program. Wiener Neustadt is an ideal starting point for tours into the surrounding area, whether as a day trip or with an overnight stay in the hotels in the city center - the Hilton Garden Inn or the Hotel Zentral.

Thanks to the perfect train connections, Wr. Neustadt is the ideal destination for a short vacation without a car. The train station is within walking distance of the city center. Within the city, all the sights are within easy reach of each other. You can explore the wonderful routes out of the city by bike or on a Segway.
