Details for: Herz Mostviertel bike route

Brief description

This bike route connects the sacred monuments and cultural sights directly in the "heart of the Mostviertel" and leads on low-traffic, paved roads.

Description

The Herz Mostviertel bike route leads from the start and finish point in Seitenstetten through the towns of the small region Heart of the Mostviertel. Along the route, there is plenty to discover.

In Seitenstetten, the spiritual and cultural center of the region, there is the Benedictine Abbey with the historical courtyard garden and the youth center Schacherhof. A stop is also worthwhile at the castle in St. Peter/Au as well as at the parish church of St. Stephan with its unique rib-vaulted ceiling in Weistrach. Other worthwhile intermediate destinations are the village chapel in Wolfsbach and the pilgrimage church Krenstetten in Aschbach. Families with children can take a detour to the Energy Researcher Trail in Biberbach.

The bike route runs in the hilly country at an elevation of 300 m to 480 m and is especially recommended for culture-interested cyclists, but also for pleasure cyclists, e-bikers, and road cyclists.

Note: The bike route is signposted in both directions and can also be ridden in the opposite direction.
Tip: Also take a detour to the Mosthöhenstraße! It is rich in impressive views and cozy culinary stops. It winds from St. Peter in der Au further to St. Michael am Bruckbach and on to St. Georgen in der Klaus.
