Bad Großpertholz
The market town of Bad Großpertholz is situated in an idyllic location on the edge of the Bohemian Forest. Huge granite boulders, elongated coniferous forests and mountain ridges that rise to over 1,000 m invite you to relax, look and marvel.
The traditional spa and tourist community of Bad Großpertholz offers the ideal conditions for slowing down from the hectic pace of everyday life and recharging your batteries.
Rare plants, mushrooms, berries, well-marked hiking trails and the fresh, clear air in the extensive forests invite you to go on hikes and take a deep breath and recharge your batteries. You can also get active with mountain biking, skiing, cross-country skiing, swimming, tennis or soccer.
Bad Großpertholz has been focusing on health for more than 60 years. Under the initiative of Mayor Josef Koppensteiner, the moor area in Reichenau am Freiwald was tested for its healing properties and approved as a healing peloid by the Lower Austrian provincial government in 1966. The Bad Großpertholzer Heilmoor is thus the first officially recognized healing moor in Lower Austria. There are signposted themed health trails (wild herb trail, steps trail).
Since 2017, there has also been the first Austria-wide "vision trail". Here you can train and strengthen your eye muscles. You can find more information at www.augen-weide.at/sehweg.
