Description

The villages of Platt and Roseldorf, with only the Celtic Sandberg between them, are a very special gem in many respects - from the charming landscape with its picturesque rural houses to the incredible view from the lookout tower on the Sandberg over the rolling hills of the wine-growing region to Znojmo, the Leiser mountains and the Alps.

The very special people who live here have set up a unique museum, which tells the story of the beginning of settlement 7,500 years ago to the present day. It tells of a Stone Age kitchen that was found here, of painted dishes as delicate as Chinese porcelain and strong women who had stronger arms than most men today.
The people who lived here at that time made and appreciated art, they did business with their fellow human beings and cultivated the land.

The largest Celtic city in Austria is located here on the Sandberg. Austria's oldest mint and the holiest site of all for the Celts: nowhere else in the world did the Celts build as many sanctuaries as here. You can find out all the details in the Stone Age & Celtic Cellar Platt.
