The cities

Small-town favourites and not metropolises: In towns like St. Pölten, Krems or Baden, historic cityscapes meet young culture. Museums, theatres and parks are often just a few steps away from each other, distances are short and the pace is pleasant. The old towns are well preserved and at the same time open to new things: design shops next to wine taverns, baroque facades next to modern architecture.

In many cities, you can get from festivals and cultural centres to the riverbank or forest path in just a few minutes - urbanity and nature simply belong together here.

Between cultural heritage and contemporary art

Modern music festivals in castle gardens, contemporary architecture next to Romanesque churches, experimental art venues in historic city centres and places of worship in the middle of vast landscapes - Lower Austria is a state in which art and culture are constantly renegotiating themselves.

Perhaps this gives rise to the desire to not only discover these places digitally, but to encounter them in person - with time, attention and the willingness to form your own opinion.
