Vacations in a historic train station
Where travelers once waited for the Mariazell Railway, today a lovingly renovated train station invites you to enjoy a special vacation. With a keen sense of history and comfort, the historic building has been transformed into two barrier-free vacation apartments. Old railroad elements tell of times gone by, while modern furnishings and warm colors create a feel-good atmosphere.
Accommodation & facilities
The station is located right next to the Mariazell Railway, which stops on the doorstep during the day - at night it's pure tranquillity. Each apartment has its own terrace with barbecue facilities and views of the countryside, while the large garden with igloo sauna, herb beds and fire pit invites you to linger. The garden is fully fenced and therefore safe for children and dogs - pets are welcome.
Both apartments of the Wilde Wunder Card host have a fully equipped kitchen; on request, our regional shopkeeper will bring you a wonderfully prepared breakfast and is also happy to deliver groceries for your vacation at the train station.
Leisure tips
In summer, the Wienerbruck reservoir and numerous hiking trails in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, the entrance to which is right next to the train station, invite you to enjoy hiking in the surrounding mountains or to take a rapid descent on the zipline of the Annaberg lifts or the mountain carts on the Gemeindealpe. You can swim in the cool waters of the nearby bathing lakes Erlaufsee and Hubertussee, hire boats and SUPs - they can also be comfortably circumnavigated on dry feet.
Winter at Wienerbruck station
It's still really winter here! Annaberg is known as a small "snow hole" with meter-high snow walls next to the roads. There are three ski areas in the region - Annaberg, Mitterbach and the Mariazeller Bürgeralpe - which are open from December to mid-March and are easily accessible by ski bus during the vacations. The Mitterbach and Mariazell ski areas can also be reached directly with the Mariazell cable car.
The Annaberg ski area scores with a particularly family-friendly offer: the Anna-Land for children, the Anna-Park for advanced skiers and a weekly ski touring evening at the Anna-Alm. For cross-country skiers, there are well-maintained trails in Annaberg, Mariazell and Puchenstuben - some of which pass right next to the hotel. Snowshoe hikes and ice skating are also possible around the station - a wonderful opportunity to experience the snow-covered landscape.
After an excursion by train or a visit to the atmospheric Mariazell Advent, the Mariazell cable car takes you right back to the front door. When the snow glistens outside, Wienerbruck station invites you to spend relaxing winter days with its historic charm and cozy atmosphere.
