Description
The ÖTK Hochkar shelter is located directly at the Hochkar valley station at 1492 m. It was opened in 1891 and has been managed by the newly founded ÖTK Göstling/Ybbs section since 1942, and later by the Scheibbs section after the Göstling/Ybbs and Scheibbs sections merged. The refuge is an ideal starting point for hikes, walks to the mountain lake or a guided tour of the Hochkar cave.
On the Hochkar 360° Skytour, you can enjoy a fantastic view from a 120 meter high platform. The Heli-Kraft via ferrata and the Bergmandl family via ferrata offer a little more action. For the little ones, there is an alpine adventure hike and an adventure playground at the valley station will make children's hearts beat faster.
In winter, the Hochkar ski area is particularly popular due to its guaranteed snow.
The ÖTK Schutzhaus offers 100 seats in the guest room and parlor as well as a large terrace with up to 200 seats, where guests are spoiled with down-to-earth home cooking and homemade desserts. The Schutzhaus also has 32 simple beds.
