The Raxalm Mountain Inn is located right next to the Rax Areal Ropeway’s summit station and is open almost year-round. Thanks to its unique location, it’s the ideal starting point for hikes across the Rax Plateau through fragrant mountain pine meadows in the summer or for snowshoe hikes on quiet winter trails.
The large sun terrace invites you to relax—with coffee, homemade cake, and a good book. In the evening, the fireplace provides cozy warmth while the setting sun bathes the mountain peaks in golden light.
Hiking & Hut Hopping
Numerous hikes begin at the mountain inn, including the popular“hut hopping” tour on the Rax Plateau: from the inn to the Ottohaus, on to the Höllentalaussicht viewpoint, to the Neue Seehütte, or all the way up to the Habsburghaus and on to the Preiner Gscheid.
In addition to the hut-to-hut hikes, impressive viewpoints such as the Ottohaus observation deck or the Höllentalaussicht beckon. The Rax offers a wide range of options: from leisurely family hikes to challenging mountain tours for experienced hikers.

The Raxalm Mountain Inn is a RUFbus partner. Overnight guests receive the Mobility Card+ at check-in, which allows them to enjoy numerous benefits. Travel to and from the nearest train station, as well as trips under 7.5 km, are free on the RUFbus. For trips of 7.5 km or more, half the full fare is charged. In addition, overnight guests receive numerous discounts at popular excursion destinations in the region.
