Bühne Heidenreichstein
Theatre
Description
Atmospheric ambience in the courtyard of Heidenreichstein Castle
The open-air performances by Bühne Heidenreichstein in the atmospheric setting of the castle courtyard and the parish garden have been a fixture of the Waldviertel Summer of Culture for many years. But the Christmas play for children and the Lenziade, which is reserved for boulevard, cabaret and more experimental plays, are now also known far beyond the borders of Heidenreichstein.
Bühne Heidenreichstein consists of around 60 active members aged between 12 and 75. The group, which has been in existence since 1981, is based in the small Waldviertel town of Heidenreichstein. A particular focus of the group is the further training of its members through seminars and courses, but especially the nurturing of young talent. The rehearsal and seminar venue is the "Theater unterm Giebel".
The aim of the group is to offer the audience as wide a range of plays as possible. This is ensured by the fact that different members rotate directing roles, allowing them to realize their own individual preferences.
Over the last few years, plays as diverse as "A Christmas Story" (Dickens), "The Rhinoceroses" (Ionesco), "The Maid of Orleans" (Schiller), "Don Camillo" (Guareschi), "Der Unbestechliche" (Hofmannsthal), "Der blaue Engel" (Zuckmayer/Mann), "Die zwöölf Geschworenen" (Rose), "The Miser" (Molière), "A Midsummer Night's Dream" (Shakespeare) and many more., will be performed.
