Burg Rappottenstein
Fortress
Description
On a guided tour of the mighty castle, you will experience the medieval ambience of a fortress that was never conquered. The gigantic walls seem to grow out of the granite rock mountain into the sky. Three-storey arcades with sgraffito decoration convey an Italian flair. The frescoes in the interior are among the rarest examples of 16th century secular painting. Guests can relax in the enchanting castle garden. Lovingly restored by the Counts of Abensperg and Traun, who have owned the fortress since 1664, the medieval character has been preserved.
