Die kleine Au

The Kleine Au in the center of Fischamend invites you to take a relaxing stroll.

Take in the harmonious interplay between water and forest on a walk through the Kleine Au. Stop to feel the magical atmosphere and the power of the trees. You will soon notice how the lazily flowing water, the sounds and scents of nature brighten your mood and quickly bring you to rest.

In cooperation with the Donau-Auen National Park, the municipality of Fischamend has implemented a series of revitalization measures here, including the construction of a fish ladder. This will continuously improve the ecological condition of this unique river delta. Not only migratory fish, but also other water-dwelling organisms and many bird species are now settling here again.

The easiest way to enter the Kleine Au is to walk along Kleinneusiedlerstraße from the main square and turn left at the first opportunity. At the Rottner estate, one of the oldest buildings in Fischamend, you can cross a small bridge directly into the idyllic little alluvial forest, which is criss-crossed by streams. Public transport is available with the S7 train from Vienna every hour; there is free parking at the post office for those arriving by car.
