"Kleinstes SAURIERMUSEUM der Welt"

Historical sites

Description

Muthmannsdorf is one of Austria's most important dinosaur sites. Remains of the "Struthiosaurus Austriacus", which was discovered and excavated in Muthmannsdorf in 1859, as well as fossils of marine animals can be admired in the ‘world's smallest dinosaur museum’. Castings of the finds are on display in showcases, and information boards provide details about this geological achievement. The original finds are housed in the Natural History Museum in Vienna.

Those who want to follow in the footsteps of the dinosaurs can visit the dinosaur site with the help of "prehistoric hiking maps", which are available from the municipal office.
