Königswarte

Mountain summit

Description

The Königswarte - a rocky border crosser: Austria's easternmost mountain is located near Hainburg in the Lower Carpathians, on the border with Slovakia. The 344 meter high elevation is surrounded by Wolfsthal, Berg and Edelstal.

The cozy excursion mountain attracts visitors with various hiking routes - and a fallow deer enclosure on the northern flank. Since 2001, a 22-metre-high wooden observation tower on the Kaiserwarte has provided a great view over the Roman remains of Carnuntum.

Location
Danube region, near Hainburg / on the border with Slovakia

Accessibility for hikers
A great tip is the Via.Vista. Königswarte circular hiking trail - a family-friendly hike through deciduous forests and vineyards to the viewing tower.

Good to know: Not far from the lookout tower is a telecommunications reconnaissance facility, which was built in the late 1950s and financed by the USA.
