Max-Schubert-Warte – Mittelpunkt von Niederösterreich
Lookout tower, Scenic lookout
Description
The center of Lower Austria is located in the municipality of Kapelln in St. Pölten-Land: 5,348,138 meters north of the equator. This was precisely determined on November 30, 1993, and since then the Max Schubert Observatory and a fantastic adventure trail have been inviting visitors to linger and explore.
Max-Schubert-Warte: the best views at the center of Lower Austria
Named after the surveyor Maximilian Schubert, the Max-Schubert-Warte in the Killing district of Kapelln marks the center of the province. Three singing benches display the lyrics and melody of the first verse of Lower Austria's national anthem "Oh Heimat, dich zu lieben". The beautiful panoramic view of the foothills of the Alps extends as far as the Ötscher.
Scenic tip: Nearby is the Andreas-Friedenswarte, built in 2004 - with views of the Ötscher and Schneeberg.
