Description

The medieval town of Hainburg an der Donau is nestled between the Danube floodplains and the Hainburg Hills. On a guided tour of the town with lansquenets through mystical alleyways and squares, you will discover imposing town gates, the castle on the Schlossberg and mighty town walls reminiscent of the glorious past under King Ottokar II of Bohemia.

The National Park municipality of Hainburg also has 90 km of wonderful hiking trails for day-trippers and those hungry for exercise. The VIA.MONTE. - the Braunsberg circular hiking trail - leads from the banks of the Danube to the Braunsberg. At the audio guide stations, you can listen to stories about the Romans, Celts and the Middle Ages.

In summer, you can cool off in the mountain pool at the foot of the Braunsberg or in the Danube. Our winegrowers and restaurateurs will spoil you with regional specialties. Your excursion ends with a walk along the Danube promenade.

In May, August and September, the FGS Carnuntum takes you on gentle waves from Hainburg to Thebes and Bratislava every Sunday and public holiday.
