Mittersee

Ponds, lakes and springs

Description

Approximately 1 hour's walk from Seehof Castle on the eastern shore of Lake Lunz, you will find the idyllic Mittersee. This wonderful hiking destination is located at about 766 meters above sea level and is easily accessible via a moderately ascending forest path.

Despite the shallow depth, the crystal clear mountain lake hardly reaches temperatures above 7 degrees Celsius all year round. This is due to the permanent flow of the lake stream and the water-impermeable rock layers, which are the cause of the formation of this enchanting natural jewel.

This breathtaking power place of nature invites you to pause and breathe deeply. The calm lake, embedded in the quiet panorama of the wild-romantic natural scenery, offers a very special destination for pleasure hikers and many panoramic resting places to consume the snack you have brought along.

Only the not far away impressive, 60m high Ludwigfall interrupts the quiet environment and shortly thereafter also the "roaring bull" - an underground waterfall, whose roar makes the Lunzer remind of the roar of a raging bull, which is on the way to the not far away Obersee. A discovery in the course of the 3 Lakes Tour is worthwhile.
