Erlauftalradweg

Outdoor adventure

Description

The Erlauf Valley Cycle Route stretches from the mouth of the Erlauf in Pöchlarn to Lake Lunz at the foot of the Ötscher (approx. 60 km). Cycling along the Erlauftal Cycle Path (formerly the Ötscherland Cycle Route), cyclists get to know the diversity of the Mostviertel cultural landscape. Starting at Pöchlarn, in the gentle Alpine foothills south of the Danube, the Mostviertel's local mountain, the 1,893 m high Ötscher, repeatedly pushes itself into view as cyclists make their way south through the Great Erlauf Valley.

In addition to fantastic views of the foothills of the Alps, idyllic river landscapes (such as the Erlauf Gorge in Purgstall) and short discovery tours to small towns and markets await. There are plenty of cozy places to stop for refreshments along the cycle path - and so you also get to know Brettljause, Cider and Scheibbser Kugel. The flat section of the Erlauftal Cycle Path ends in Gaming at the famous Charterhouse, while more ambitious cyclists can tackle the mountain stage via Pfaffenschlag to Lunz am See. Here, the Erlauftal Cycle Path also links up with the Ybbstal Cycle Path.
