Reisalpe
Mountain summit, Scenic lookout
Description
The summit of the Reisalpe, which rises almost 1,400 m above sea level in the Gutenstein Alps between Lilienfeld, Kleinzell and Hohenberg, is considered one of the most beautiful vantage points in Lower Austria. The flat and unwooded summit crest offers an unparalleled panoramic view: in good weather, the view extends over the Tote Gebirge and Traunstein, Hochschwab, Rax, Schneeberg and Ötscher as far as the Danube Valley.
The ascent for hikers is possible via various starting points. The well-marked Weitwander-Voralpenweg trail leads over the summit ridge of the Reisalpe. At the summit, hikers are greeted by a summit cross and a Madonna. The statue of the saint was donated by an entrepreneur in gratitude for a rescue from danger.
From May to August (except Tuesdays) and from September to October, the Reisalpen-Schutzhaus invites you to enjoy culinary delights - and, if you book in advance, to spend the night in comfort.
