Schloss Goldegg

Castle

Description

Goldegg Castle, visible from afar, lies on the south-eastern edge of the Dunkelsteinerwald forest. Even from a distance, you can see the proud building with its banqueting hall, chapel and garden park. The estate also includes several hectares of farmland and forest. To the north of the castle is a castle garden, a prime example of Lower Austrian garden design. The Goldegg stream and other watercourses formed several bridges.

There is a small pond with an island. Remarkable buildings include a wooden summer house with an elliptical floor plan and shingle roof from around 1800 and a two-storey glass house with an iron supporting structure from around 1900. The Castello restaurant, where many golfers from the St. Pölten Golf Club in front of the castle come to enjoy themselves throughout the summer, takes care of the castle's culinary delights.
