Description
In the small wine village of Mailberg in the Pulkau Valley, surrounded by vineyards and a moat, lies the historic Schlosshotel Mailberg. Built in the 11th century by the Knights of Chadolt, the castle has been owned by the Sovereign Order of the Knights of Malta since 1146. Throughout the centuries, the castle has served to protect, feed and cater for travelers and pilgrims.
In keeping with this centuries-old Maltese tradition of hospitality, the castle now offers 21 lovingly renovated guest rooms with modern furnishings. You can also enjoy regional delicacies in the castle restaurant. The castle church also serves as the parish church of the community. Since 2001, the Mailberg winegrowers have also been offering their wines in the castle wine shop - the ancient vaults of the castle - at farm-gate prices.
The architecture of this charming refuge features both medieval and baroque architectural and decorative elements, combined with modern functionality.
