Schneeberg

Mountain summit, Scenic lookout

Description

At 2,076 meters, the Schneeberg is the highest mountain in Lower Austria in the Vienna Alps. Together with the neighboring Rax, the massif is one of Vienna's local mountains. The summit is particularly easy to reach from Puchberg with the Schneebergbahn cable car in Salamander design. A culinary stopover at the Baumgartner stop is worthwhile: here you can enjoy the sweet specialty of the famous Schneeberg Buchteln.

From the summit station, a hiking tour leads to the monastery coat of arms - the highest point of the Schneeberg. The Fischerhütte is just a few steps away: located at 2,049 meters above sea level, it is Lower Austria's highest mountain hut. Numerous other huts and inns also welcome their guests.
