Description

Traditional sheep's wool rugs of the highest quality are made at wollschmiedn by Barbara Schmidt, who studied law. All handmade, of course.

There are many lawyers. But weavers, real weavers? - That's what lawyer Barbara Schmidt thought a few years ago. And left the legal profession to revive the old craft of weaving in Nonndorf near Gars am Kamp. Since 2013, her "wollschmiedn" has been integrated into a 300-year-old former farmhouse, where she and her family also live. "Wollschmiedn - that's working with fragrant sheep's wool, with an old loom and a sharp needle and with flaming passion," Barbara Schmidt sums it up.

She revives the old art of weaving with fresh ideas: special wool tattoos, for example, make a carpet unique. A particularly intense experience: standing at the loom yourself, trying out the craft of weaving and the technique of needle felting and giving a carpet a very personal touch. - All possible at a workshop in the wollschmiedn! Perhaps you will then be able to understand how a lawyer can become addicted to weaving...
