Description
Not the highest, but the most beautiful elevation in the Waldviertel region
At 1,017 m above sea level, the Nebelstein is one of the most striking and impressive natural sites in the Waldviertel - not the highest, but for many the most beautiful mountain ridge in the region, which is the subject of many legends and myths.
From its summit rock with the viewing platforms, the telescope and the Visholo, an impressive panoramic view opens up, which on clear days extends far into the countryside and even as far as the Ötscher.
The Nebelstein is a much-visited excursion destination and popular meeting point for hikers, as numerous hiking and long-distance hiking trails intersect here, including the Nordwaldkammweg, the Kamptalseenweg, the Thayatalweg, the NÖ Landesrundwanderweg and the Mariazellerweg.
Whether for day trips, family hikes or nature-loving breaks:
The Nebelstein offers a rare combination of adventure and relaxation. Many visitors see it as a special place of power - a place that "touches the soul".
You can reach the Nebelstein from the Nebelstein parking lot in about 10-15 minutes on foot.
