Description
The Fossil World in Stetten, located just outside Vienna, presents the world’s largest fossil oyster reef as well as the largest fossil pearl in the world. Around Stetten, 15,000 giant oysters have been uncovered and made accessible to visitors. A multimedia show transports you into the vanished tropical primeval sea of a long-lost era. With the fossil remains of over 650 documented animal and plant species found on the grounds of the Fossil World, the tropical ocean can still be explored 17 million years later. With the free 3D Primeval Ocean app and audio guide, exciting virtual experiences are guaranteed.
In the outdoor area, kids can let off steam at the marble run, a wooden prehistoric shark, various slides, a sandy beach with fossil shark teeth, freshwater pearls and shells, as well as a water play and climbing area with a giant rope swing. Up high, the observation tower in the shape of a tower snail offers great views.
The museum shop invites visitors to browse and take home a souvenir.
