Description

The Gothic church with its characteristic tower, a so-called gable rider, is dedicated to St. Vitus and was built in the Middle Ages. The Romanesque baptismal font, the beautiful ribbed vaults and the two-part tracery windows are the main decorative features of the church. The baroque high altar was removed in 1903 and replaced by a neo-Gothic one. In 1945, a bomb hit the rear part of the church and so the chairs had to be replaced and a new organ built. A few years ago, the forecourt was redesigned so that the church can be considered a beautiful landmark of Kirchstetten.
