Handicraft museum in the Amonhaus
It all began in 2005 with an idea from the then - and now again - Deputy Mayor Johann Strohmayer and Elisabeth Honeder. The two were sitting together one day and got talking about a museum for handicrafts. That very evening, they asked Dr. Gudrun Malicky if she would be interested in working on such a project. Because Dr. Gudrun Malicky and Elisabeth Honeder share a love of needlework. The interviewee agreed, and so the foundation stone for the Lunz Handicraft Museum was laid.
Collection with more than 4,000 exhibits
The small museum has been open to visitors since July 2005. Over the past 15 years, our collection has grown to over 4,000 handicrafts.
Old library newly adapted
Embroidered christening gowns, crocheted lace and knitwear and much more are on display in the completely newly adapted rooms of the former library in the Amonhaus. The museum's collection also includes handicrafts that have almost been forgotten today, such as box strips and wall coverings.
For our annually changing exhibitions on specific themes, we are also happy to receive items on loan on the respective theme.
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed in the museum!
