Description

Pernegg Abbey, founded in 1153 by Count Ulrich II von Pernegg, has had an eventful history. After plundering and the death of the last canoness in 1585, it was taken over by the canons of Geras. After being dissolved as a result of the Josephine church reforms and the furnishings being auctioned off, the monastery was transferred back to the Geras Canons' Monastery by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1854. Today, the completely restored collegiate church "Zum heiligen Andreas" is not only a place of worship, but also a venue for concerts, which take place thanks to the church's excellent acoustics.

Varied fasting offers

Today, Pernegg Abbey is a place for "discovering silence". The Waldviertel fasting center with 50 rooms offers space to relax and recharge your batteries. Guests have access to a sauna area, a large gym with cardio equipment, meditation, group and recreation rooms as well as extensive monastery gardens. Thanks to the variety of topics covered by the monastery fast and the wide range of themed fasting courses, such as Buchinger fasting, intermittent fasting, sham fasting, TCM fasting and Ayurveda treatments, Pernegg Monastery has become one of the most successful fasting centers in Austria .

Pernegg Monastery is more than just a place of silence and fasting, it is a place of history and culture.
