A Life’s Work That Continues to Grow
A special connection to nature and the legacy of Hermann-Josef Weidinger (†2004) have shaped the Kräuterpfarrer Center. Herbal Pastor Benedikt and his dedicated team continue this valuable life’s work with great passion and preserve the traditional knowledge of medicinal herbs.
The center is supported by the “Friends of Medicinal Herbs” association, which has nearly 10,000 members. The association’s magazine, “Ringelblume,” is published four times a year. It provides information about medicinal plants, their uses and effects, as well as a natural lifestyle. Respect for the wonders of creation is also at the heart of this work. A free sample copy of “Ringelblume” can be requested from the team.
Discover Geras Abbey
A visit to the herb shop can be wonderfully combined with a trip to the adjacent Geras Abbey. From May through October, admission tickets and guided tour tickets are available at the monastery and herb shop. The impressive Marble Hall, the magnificent Imperial Room, the corridor gallery, and other noteworthy rooms offer insight into the abbey’s history.
Fragrant Diversity in the Herb Garden
Right next to the herb shop, the sprawling herb garden, with its magnificent view of the abbey, invites you to linger. From May through October, the garden is open to the public and offers the opportunity to explore the diversity of medicinal and culinary herbs. Numerous herbs grow in the lovingly tended beds, inviting you to marvel, smell, and discover. The garden is at its most magnificent during the summer months from June through August: that’s when many herbs are in full bloom and exude their intense fragrance.
