Description
The press house, which is home to the Mostelleria, was built in 1874 and still stands proudly on the village square in Öhling. Josef Farthofer carefully renovated the listed cellar house in 2010 with great sensitivity for the valuable substance and converted it into a production and tasting building.
Guided tours and tastings are regularly offered here for interested visitors. The building is named after the pear dessert wine "Mostello", a protected in-house creation made from autochthonous Mostviertel pear varieties and its own organic pear brandy.
In addition to "Mostello", the store also sells all of the distillery's other organic brandies and liqueurs as well as regional delicacies. Since fall 2018, the distillery has had its own malting plant for its new whiskies. Josef Farthofer achieved great fame at the end of 2012 by winning the IWSC Gold Medal and the coveted IWSC Trophy for their O-Vodka as the best vodka in the world (International Wine & Spirit Competition in London). They were also awarded first place for O-Gin in the Mixology Gin Test.
