Description
The Mühlberg nature reserve, situated on a steep, southwest-facing slope, is a remarkable piece of nature. It is covered with a Hainsalbei-Furchenschwingel dry grassland, a type of dry grassland that was once widespread and characteristic of the landscape in the Pannonian region of Lower Austria. Unfortunately, changes in cultivation and intensification in agriculture in the second half of the 20th century led to the destruction of most of these dry grasslands. Today, only small remnants remain, and the Mühlberg nature reserve is one of the few areas where this unique landscape can still be experienced. A visit to this nature reserve offers the opportunity to discover and appreciate a rare and valuable part of Lower Austria's natural history.
