Nibelungendenkmal

The Nibelungen monument was erected in 1987. This monument shows sixteen mosaic coats of arms of locations from the Song of the Nibelungs. The Song of the Nibelungs also tells of a Margrave Rüdiger von Bechelaren and his hospitality. To keep the tradition of the Nibelungs alive in Pöchlarn, a Nibelung Symposium is held every two years. The Nibelung monument was artistically designed by Heinz Knapp and represents a contribution to the Europe-wide idea of peace.
