Pfarrkirche Krenstetten

Description

The parish and pilgrimage church was built around the 12th century and dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The chancel with its ribbed vault contains stained glass windows dating from around 1350. A chapel houses a late Gothic winged altar with carved figures and elaborate panel paintings. The neo-Gothic high altar, made by Johann Rint, a court carver and awarded a prize at the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873, and the black and gold pulpit, originally intended for Seitenstetten Abbey Church and found in Krenstetten since 1703, are further remarkable works of art in this church.
