Spätromanische Kirche St. Radegund

Description

On the north-eastern edge of Peigarten (municipality of Pernersdorf) stands the late Romanesque church of St. Radegund, a branch church of the parish of Pfaffendorf. The building dates back to the first half of the 13th century and was later extended with a tower and a porch.

The outer walls of the single-nave nave feature ashlar plinths and stone-faced ashlar layers. On the south side, there is a walled-in arched portal and three walled-in arched windows as well as round-arched window slits. A Romanesque stone lion can be seen at the north-east corner of the choir.

An idyllic ensemble of cellars, the so-called "Peregriniplatzl", adjoins the cemetery surrounding the church. The press houses, shaded by dense trees, form a semicircle where the Peregrinifest is held every year in July.
