Töppermausoleum

Description

The construction of this burial ground was commissioned by the descendants of Andreas Töpper. In 1882 - 10 years after Töpper's death - 300 square feet, or just under 100 square meters, of cemetery land was purchased from the Scheibbs parish office (the current Töpperpark housed the municipal cemetery until 1917). It is a mausoleum consisting of a prayer room and a crypt underneath. The building's construction material is house brick from Neustift tuff.

Andreas Töpper rests in the sarcophagus on the right, depicted life-size in the uniform of a mining captain. On the left lies Töpper's first wife Helena. The white marble plaques on the walls bear the names of those who were also buried here.

The cast-iron plaque on the outside should also be mentioned. On it, the grief-stricken parents lament the death of their child Andreas.
