Enchanting forests, idyllic rivers, miles of country lanes - here in the brewing and Kuenringer town of Zwettl, hikers' hearts beat particularly fast.
Zwettl was awarded the "Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality" on 12 January 2017 and is proud of its particularly attractive combination of town and countryside. Cultural and historical heritage is embedded in a beautiful natural landscape with an attractive network of hiking trails and certified accommodation.
The nature around Zwettl, characterized by its unique valley basin location and the confluence of the Kamp and Zwettl rivers, offers particularly idyllic flora and fauna due to its geographical characteristics. Powerful, refreshing green forests, the play of colors of the rapeseed, poppy and hop fields as well as impressive granite stone formations and the healthy stimulating climate offer pure hiking pleasure and relaxation for body and soul.
In addition to the cultural highlights in the historic town center of Zwettl and the nearby Zwettl Cistercian Abbey, the hiking trails along the river valleys offer magnificent natural sites and quality hiking pleasure. All hiking trails are well signposted, offer cozy picnic areas and refreshment stops as well as family-friendly children's playgrounds.
The certified hiking trail "In Hundertwasser's footsteps, No. 55a", which is particularly family-friendly and is themed around "water" and "Hundertwasser", is particularly recommended.

The certified linear hiking trail has also been awarded the Austrian Hiking Seal of Quality as an outstanding hiking trail. The creative trail, which starts right in the city center at the Hundertwasser fountain, connects city and countryside and leads into the idyllic Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German).
Along the route, the extraordinary river landscape impresses with mighty granite stone formations, deep green forests and old mills. Information boards along the way reveal secrets and provide local and regional information.
The destination of the trail is the village museum in Roiten, which was designed by the artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who lived in the nearby "old rooster saw".
