Located at the foot of the Eichkogel is the man-made Guntramsdorf Windradl Pond.
With approximately 1.8 hectares of water surface, surrounded by reeds and natural sunbathing areas, this sandy, gravel-bottomed swimming pond—complete with shaded spots and a designated non-swimmer area—offers a welcome break from everyday life. A playground with a swing and slide, as well as a gravel beach for the little ones, provide fun and variety.
The recreational area around Windradlteich is ideal not only for swimming and relaxing. There are also several opportunities to walk around the pond and, at one of the piers, not only dip your feet in the water but also let your thoughts wander.
Right on the Windradlteich is the “Südufer,” which opened in 2018. This combination of bar and restaurant impresses with its enchanting atmosphere, attentive service, and numerous culinary delights on the menu.

Originally created due to the increased demand for clay—which was needed to produce bricks for the construction of Vienna’s Ringstrasse—such ponds in southern Vienna still stand today as silent witnesses to that era of transformation.
