The chef himself cooks here.
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful Vienna Woods in Breitenfurt near Vienna lies our Landgasthof Murtinger—a family-run business that has been synonymous with warm hospitality and authentic, regional cuisine for generations.
With great passion, Barbara and Gerhard Murtinger run the family business, creating a place where guests can feel at home, unwind, and enjoy culinary delights.
Our cuisine combines traditional tavern classics with seasonal specialties. We’re particularly known for our game dishes featuring game from the Vienna Woods. Throughout the year, you can also enjoy a varied selection of fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes, which we prepare using fresh, seasonal ingredients. In the spring, fresh wild garlic from the Vienna Woods and organic asparagus from the Marchfeld region are highlights; in the summer, porcini mushrooms, chanterelles, and sun-ripened apricots take center stage. Fall brings pumpkin dishes and St. Martin’s goose to the menu, while during Advent, Waldviertel carp is a must-have.
Those with a sweet tooth will also find plenty to enjoy here: our handmade apricot dumplings, classic crème brûlée, and semi-liquid chocolate cake are among our guests’ favorite desserts. Seasonal dessert creations provide variety throughout the year.
Whether after a hike or bike ride through the Vienna Woods, for a leisurely lunch, or a special dinner—enjoy regional cuisine in a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. We look forward to welcoming you."
