The ÖTK mountain hut was built in 1894 and is located at an elevation of 1,643 m on the Rax Plateau. It is a popular spot for mountain enthusiasts to rest and refuel. From the summit station, the hut can be reached in about 2 hours via a trail that passes the Preiner Wand Cross. Those seeking a more challenging route can ascend to the hut via the numerous via ferrata routes on the Preiner Wand. The hut is a popular stopover during hut hopping on the Rax.
Famous guests such as Viktor Frankl particularly appreciated the Neue Seehütte.
