Description

At 1,536 meters above sea level, the Schwarzalm is the highest alpine hut on the Eisenstraße in Lower Austria. The alpine pasture in the Mostviertel Alps can be reached from three sides: from the Leckermoos high moor in Hochreit, from the village of Lassing near the Sinsamreith farmhouse or from the Hochkar. The approach can be chosen depending on your stamina, as there are ascent routes of varying difficulty.

Furthermore, shorter and longer circular hikes with summit destinations (e.g. Ringkogel, Hochwurz) can be undertaken starting from the Schwarzalm. Once a week it is possible to take an alpine cab up to the Schwarzalm. On request, guests can spend the night in the mattress dormitory. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
