Over the course of Waldland’s more than 40-year history, a highly versatile operation has been established at the Waldlandhof in Oberwaltenreith. More than 80 specialty crops are cultivated and processed under contract by approximately 1,200 regional member farms. Innovation, research, and development are top priorities. The 200 employees at the Waldlandhof work in the areas of pharmaceutical raw material production, renewable raw materials, and food.
Herbs & Spices
In the area of culinary and tea herbs, as well as spices and baking seeds, numerous crops such as mint, lemon balm, thyme, chamomile, caraway, and many others are grown. Of particular note is the production of dried chive rolls. Waldland is one of the largest international suppliers in this category.
Cold-Pressed Vegetable Oils & Oil Cakes
A wide variety of oilseeds—such as milk thistle, oilseed flax, gray poppy, hemp, grape seeds, and more—are processed into high-quality cold-pressed vegetable oils and oil cakes at the Waldland oil mills in Oberwaltenreith and Kautzen.
Pharmaceutical Raw Materials
Renowned pharmaceutical manufacturers from around the world value their partnership with Waldland. A wide variety of plants are cultivated exclusively for the extraction of active ingredients for pharmaceuticals. Examples include milk thistle, ginkgo, St. John’s wort, pollen, and others.
Regional Foods & Shopping
Another key focus is the culinary sector. Many regional specialties are produced in the fish and poultry processing facilities. A particular highlight is the noble catfish, an exceptional, high-quality fish from the recirculating aquaculture system. Waldland, as the hub of poppy cultivation in the Waldviertel region, is also known for its delicious poppy seed pastries. In the bakery and kitchen at the Waldlandhof, numerous sweet and savory delicacies—with and without poppy seeds—are prepared. These regional foods are available at the store in Oberwaltenreith, in the online shop, and at select retailers.
Catering & Café
The diverse range of specialties is available through the catering service and at the Waldland Café. Waldland places great emphasis on regional ingredients and treats guests to its offerings at events and celebrations at the Waldlandhof or at a location of your choice.
Leinenhaus
Natural materials form the basis for the beautiful Leinenhaus products. The assortment includes fashionable women’s and men’s clothing, household linens, wellness products, and accessories.
