Apricot blossom

Around 100,000 apricot trees immerse the Wachau in a sea of delicate pink and white blossom every spring. Mild spring days invite you to enjoy the atmosphere on foot or on the Danube cycle path (stage 5 on the north bank or south bank).

When are the apricots in bloom?

Depending on the weather, the apricot trees usually only blossom for 10 to 15 daysbetween mid-March and mid-April .

Where is the apricot blossom at its most beautiful?

The apricot blossom is at its earliest around Krems on the apricot adventure trail or in the apricot garden of Göttweig Abbey. The blossom then follows the sun through the Wachau via the apricot mile in Rossatz-Arnsdorf (in 7 stages through Austria's largest apricot-growing community). The route continues to Aggsbach Markt, where the apricot trail along the apricot route awaits.

Pear blossom

Along the Moststraße, over 300,000 pear trees transform the Mostviertel into a sea of white blossom. The hilly landscape can be easily explored on foot or by bike - for example along the Mostbaron cycle route.

When do the pear trees blossom?

The blossom starts a little later than the apricot blossom, but lasts longer. The peak is at the end of April to the beginning of May.

Where is the pear blossom at its most beautiful?

The Voralpenblick viewing platform, the Kaiserin-Elisabeth-Warte along the cider hiking trail and the Sonntagberg offer views of the hilly landscape of the Mostviertel. If you want to combine blossom landscapes and Taverns , the cider trail in Euratsfeld is the place to be. The 110-kilometre "Heart of the Mostviertel" circular hiking trail is recommended for extended spring stages.

Dirndl blossom

When the yellow blossoms of the dirndl bushes (the cornelian cherry) colour the landscape, the Pielach Valley, also known as the Dirndl Valley, briefly becomes a stage for nature and enjoyment.

The blossom is expected to startat the beginning of March and lasts around two weeks, depending on the weather.

Where is the dirndl blossom at its most beautiful?

We recommend Kirchberg an der Pielach with the Dirndl hiking trail and the Skywalk, Rabenstein an der Pielach with a route via the Rabenstein ruins and the Pielachtal circular hiking trail no. 652 around the Pielach, which can be combined with the Mariazell railway. Poppy blossom

A preview of summer!

Shades of white, pink, red and purple characterise the poppy fields of the Waldviertel, which can be experienced in a particularly impressive way when hiking or cycling along the poppy route, for example.

The poppy blossom can be experienced particularly well around the poppy village of Armschlag: Poppy strudel trail no. 12 runs through the famous poppy nature trail and poppy strudel trail no. 13 leads past the poppy garden with over 30 different types of ornamental poppies. Another recommended hiking tour is the Mohnleutweg starting from Sallingberg.
