Buchberg am Kamp train station
Train stationDescription
The idyllic stop at Buchberg am Kamp station is probably one of the most enchanting stopovers along the Kamptalbahn line. A track runs along the single platform of the station.
Buchberg Castle
It takes less than 5 minutes to walk from Buchberg am Kamp station to Buchberg Castle in the municipality of the same name. The time-honored building is now privately owned. Permanent art installations by international artists have been set up in the rooms and gardens of the castle, which can be viewed as part of events or on request.
Furthermore, nature-loving paths along the Kamp entice visitors to stroll and relax. Two cycle paths, the Kamp-Thaya-March cycle route and the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal") cycle route, also start in Buchberg am Kamp.
Busser train
The economic upswing that resulted from the opening of the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) Railway in 1889 not only created an essential basis for freight transport - the connection of the line to the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German) was decisive for the heyday of the summer resort. City dwellers soon recognized the recreational benefits of the rural area, so that women and children often spent the whole summer in the countryside, while the men devoted themselves to business in the city during the week and could indulge in the country air at the weekends. Because of the welcome and farewell scenarios at the stations along the Kamp Valley ("Kamptal" in German), the local train was soon nicknamed the "Busserlzug" (bus train).
