Scheibbs station is located in the middle of the district capital of the same name in Lower Austria's Mostviertel region. The revitalized reception building has lost none of its rustic charm, but offers publicly accessible sanitary facilities, comfortable seating and, above all, an impressive panorama of the Eisenwurzen mountains.
With more than 140 parking spaces for cars and mopeds in the adjoining Park & Ride station, as well as over 30 covered parking spaces for bicycles, transferring to the train is particularly easy.
Route information
Scheibbs station is now the terminus of the Erlauftalbahn, a branch line of the Austrian Westbahn.
- Regional trains along the route run to Pöchlarn and St. Pölten.
- Numerous buses to Lunz am See, Waidhofen an der Ybbs and Amstetten can be reached directly from the station forecourt.
Erlauftalbahn
The historically important railroad line of the Erlauftalbahn is worth a day trip in itself thanks to the fantastically picturesque views. The line used to run as far as Kienberg-Gaming, but at the end of 2010 passenger services were restricted to the Pöchlarn to Scheibbs section.
Scheibbs old town circuit - northern circuit
If you want to discover the pretty buildings in the old town with the beautiful town hall square in the district capital of Scheibbs, the best route is the Scheibbs Old Town Circuit - Northern Circuit. Starting from Scheibbs train station, the starting point for this one-and-a-half-hour tour can be reached in less than a minute and is definitely an experience for family members of all ages. Starting from the Sandsteg, the route leads through historic squares and walls to the Erlaufhafen Stadtmole with seating right on the water.
