History

In 1869 the line Budweis - Eggenburg of the Emperor Franz Josef Railway was put into operation and also the station Sigmundsherberg. Although the station was not originally planned, it quickly became a junction when the Zellerndorf - Sigmundsherberg railway line and the Kamptal Railway were built. During the First World War, the Sigmundsherberg station gained further importance due to the prisoner of war camp in the village. The construction of the coach house followed later in the years 1880 - 1881.
