St. Valentin train station

Train station

Description

The centrally located St. Valentin station was extensively renovated between 1998 and 2002 and has since been barrier-free and modern. In addition to the ÖBB travel center in the station concourse, it is also possible to purchase tickets from one of the two ticket machines installed on site.

Thanks to the Park & Ride facility opposite the station building, which can be used free of charge with a valid ticket, transferring to the train is easy. The spacious waiting area with public toilets, a tobacconist and a snack bar is a pleasant place to pass the time.

A total of seven tracks have been laid out for rail traffic and two more for through trips. Thanks to the monitors and notices in each of the waiting areas, as well as loudspeaker announcements, passengers are always well informed.

Line connections

The St. Valentin through station is located on the Westbahn line and is an important rail junction in the west of Lower Austria.

  • The St. Valentin stop offers connections to trains along the Westbahn line in the direction of Salzburg and Vienna.
  • Furthermore, the station in the westernmost municipality of Lower Austria is the end of the Danube bank railroad line and serves trains along this line to Krems.
  • Regional trains and trains on the S1 rapid transit line of the S-Bahn Upper Austria are dispatched in the direction of Garsten and Linz.
  • The Postbus station is located on the station forecourt for further connections.

History of the station

In 1858, the St. Valentin stop was connected to the "Alte Westbahn" and was thus included in one of the first sections of the Westbahn extension. From August 1, 1860, the line from Vienna to Salzburg could be used continuously.
