The large reception building at Purgstall station in the middle of the market town of the same name in Lower Austria's Mostviertel region is stately. Covered seating with a view of the beautiful surrounding region and well-equipped sanitary facilities make your stay at the station in the Scheibbs district a very pleasant one.
Over 42 parking spaces for cars and mopeds are available for those transferring to the train at the on-site Park & Ride facility. There is space for more than 35 bicycles at the Bike & Ride station.
Route information
The Purgstall an der Erlauf stop is located along the Erlauftalbahn line from Pöchlarn to Scheibbs.
- Trains on their way to Pöchlarn and St. Pölten are served here.
- Trains to St. Pölten also stop here.
- Connecting buses to Scheibbs and Amstetten can be reached directly at the station forecourt.
Museum art
If you enjoy a walk of just 5 minutes from Purgstall station over the Erlaufbrücke bridge, you will reach the Purgstall Museum in the Ledererhaus. All the processes and steps involved in leather production are shown in the form of many exhibits - always accompanied by the beautiful location directly on the Erlauf. Alternating special exhibitions on current topics invite you to come back again and again.
Panorama high-altitude tour
If you want to extend the radius of your exploration of the beautiful region, the Türkensturzweg up and over the Hochriess is definitely the right choice. The extended duration of the route of over 4 hours is well worth it, and the idyllic views along the consistently firm and easy-to-walk paths are great fun for families of all ages. The hiking route can be started directly from Purgstall railroad station, and there are numerous entertaining and culinary refreshment stops along the way.
