The market town of Breitenfurt, located in the Mödling district of Lower Austria, lies in the Vienna Woods—right on the outskirts of Vienna. The municipal area includes Breitenfurt and Hochroterd. The area was settled relatively late: it was first mentioned in a document in 1622. Breitenfurt is considered a scattered settlement that, after World War II, consisted of several individual, self-contained settlements. In 1930, the town was granted market rights.

Today, this vibrant community warmly welcomes visitors for vacations and day trips: its blend of rural and urban charm offers historical sights and friendly restaurants —as well as plenty of great sports opportunities.
