Historical insights

The foundation walls probably date back to the late 14th century. On February 18 , 1694, it was first mentioned in a document as a "brewery". Beer production ceased around 1880 and the inn continued to operate.

During renovation work in 1926, the remains of a sundial from 1652 were discovered, which still adorns the east façade today. You can see baroque depictions and the Latin motto: " Much too late is the life that is put off until tomorrow. - Live today!

On May 9, 1945, Maria and Johann Bauer took over the concession of the Altes Brauhaus. Their successors still run it as a family business today. In 1964 and 1999, the façade and interior were renovated at great expense in order to preserve the typical character of this time-honored, listed building.
