Café Schüller und Genusswerkstatt

Café / confectionery

Description

Café Schüller and the Genusswerkstatt, a family business since 1750, are located right next to the Maria Taferl basilica. Run by Christian and Maria Schüller in the seventh generation, this place offers a variety of homemade specialties. From liqueurs and brandies to jams, pastries and ice cream specialties based on Italian recipes, everything is made with great attention to detail. The rural atmosphere of Maria Taferl, the breathtaking view of the Danube valley and a 300 km Alpine panorama make a visit an unforgettable experience.

Originally founded as a department store and greisslerei, the house has developed over the last 30 years into a place of well-being, comfort and enjoyment. The discovery of the unchanged recipe for the original Maria Taferl bitters in the family chronicles from 1750 led to the production of liqueurs and brandies.

Following successes at schnapps tastings, the cellars were completely renovated and converted into a schnapps distillery in 2000. In 2014, the Genusswerkstatt finally replaced the Greisslerei and the café house was extensively renovated in 2023.
